Just got back from crystal jade at taka. it was a beautiful reunion after not having returned home for three weeks, and furthermore, we hardly dine together as a family except maybe once a month, especially when everyone is busy about their ownw chores.
lunch was awfully sinful, especially after essential brew's deep fried calamari and haz 'o' choc last night, which was ooh so diabetic. xtina was just mentioning how yummy the xiao long baos at crystal jade were. but i couldnt find much truth in it because i didnt enjoy it as much as the ones my piano teacher prepared before with her authentic shanghainese skills. but well, lunch was still worth it despite the oil and all, because it was special, everyone was there to celebrate my birthday in advance for me. daddy, mommy, 2 kors, del jie jie, baby katie! i love you all! muackzzZZ!well anyway, there was only ONE BOWL of MANGO POMELO left. and baby katie was so cute as she first enjoyed her congee so much, chuckling after each spoon to show her contentment and excitement. she would wobble forward to "ulmph" her next spoonful of congee and her eyes were glistening with joy as her face gleamed in glee. beautiful. then when it came to the little sips of mango pomelo, that was it. she would cry after each spoonful cos it just wasnt enough for her. poor katie. if i could, i would buy her a whole cup full all for herself.
so there was that just ONE BOWL which 6 of us shared. because that was crystal jade's last pure mango puree with pomelo sacs and sago. wow. only one word can describe it. it was heavenly. i havent been to heaven before. but after one spoonful, i knew that i was on my way there. phew!
a beautiful lunch, a beautiful gathering, a beautiful family. if we put aside the not so beautiful things in life and we learn to appreciate the more beautiful ones, life is truly a joy and a pretty sight. thanks for being there today! love you all!:) i can only thank the enlightened one for blessing me with such a blissful and colourful family. yum:)))
